19 Dec 2017 –  Ms Karen Woong, General Manager of Wisenet Asia (Chongqing) Co Ltd, attended a dinner hosted by Consul-General (Chengdu) GAN Teng Kiat and CG-Designate (Chengdu) Steven Pang.

The dinner held in Chongqing Westin Hotel (Liberation Square) was specially hosted for Singaporeans working in Chongqing.

Among the attendees were senior executives working in Chongqing from companies such as Capitaland, Raffles Medical Group, GuocoLand, IE Singapore Chongqing Connectivity Initiative Office,  Singapore Power (SP Group), Sembcorp, Silkair, YPL (YUXINOU-Pacific Integrated Logistics Group Multimodal Co), Fu Yu Moulding & Tooling, Bangkok Bank, Le Meridien, PacificLinks Golf, Ecowise, etc.  Some of the spouses also joined the event.

The consular jurisdiction/coverage of Singapore Consulate-General in Chengdu includes Sichuan, Shaanxi and Chongqing.  The mission of the Singapore Consulate-General in Chengdu is to safeguard the legitimate interests and rights of Singaporeans in these provinces as well as to promote, forge and develop all-round bilateral links and co-operation.

CG GAN kicked off the dinner by welcoming the attendees and introducing CG-Designate Steven Pang.  CG GAN then announced that he would be stepping down from the position of CG Chengdu and CG-Designate Steven Pang would succeed him.

CG-Designate was then introduced to the gathering where he welcomed everyone, gave a brief introduction of himself and urged all to enjoy the evening of good food and fellowship.

Guests got to enjoy specially prepared Singapore all-time favourite gourmet delicacies such as Hainan Chicken Rice, Laksa, Fried Kway Teow, Satay, Bak Kut Teh, Gado-Gado, Har Cheong Chicken, etc.

Throughout the three-hour long dinner, the CGs mingled around with the guests where they had the chance to get to know everyone.

Ms Karen Woong, General Manager of Wisenet Asia (Chongqing) Co Ltd, is a Singaporean currently stationed in Chongqing.  She graduated from Nanyang Technological University with a Bachelor of Business Degree, specialising in Human Resources. She possesses about 15 years of HR Practitioner experience both in Singapore and overseas.  Ms Woong furthered her career in executive search and became a headhunter in 2010.  She serves clients from the industries covering real estate, healthcare, FMCG, aviation, tourism, hospitality, helping them to headhunt for candidates from and for regions including Singapore, China, Hong Kong, Middle East, India, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Australia, etc.

Ms Woong sets up the Chongqing office for Wisenet Asia and is in charge of developing business in Chongqing and other major cities in Western China.

More than 300 nurses attended the Seminar.  At the Seminar, the experienced nursing team from Singapore Raffles Hospital shared on Professional Development in Nursing and Nursing Transformation. The Deputy Director of Inpatient Operations also gave an introduction of the Raffles Medical Group and a brief insight of the Chongqing Raffles International Hospital which is going to start operations in 2nd half of 2018.

Participants attending the seminar listened earnestly throughout the 3-hour seminar and expressed keen interest to join the Chongqing Raffles International hospital when it opens.

During the Q&A session, they asked questions about joining the hospital. At the tea-break, they surrounded and expressed great enthusiasm in communicating with the Raffles nursing team.

Being the co-organiser and the Project Manager of this event, Wisenet Asia is delighted to see the great success of this nursing seminar.

Raffles Medical Group is one of the many Singapore companies who are establishing their footprints in Chongqing. Under the Chongqing Connectivity Initiative (CCI), more and more Singapore companies are going to Chongqing. Wisenet Asia understands the needs, international standards and quality requirements of our client and is able to pull together resources to ensure a successful running of the event.

WiseNet Asia (Chongqing) Co Ltd was invited by Chongqing Provincial Human Resources and Social Security Department to attend a feedback session on 8 November 2017 to discuss on talent attraction policies & issues for Chongqing.  Attending the meeting were policy makers from the Human Resources and Social Security Department, major universities in Chongqing, state owned companies from Chongqing, local private enterprises and key human resources companies, including WiseNet Asia.

The agenda of the meeting was to discuss on ideas to attract talents to Chongqing and build Chongqing into a competitive talent city.

At the meeting, current challenges and difficulties faced by universities and enterprises in attracting talents to work in Chongqing were being raised and discussed.  Suggestions and ideas on what the government could consider were being raised up.

Karen Woong, General Manager of WiseNet Asia Chongqing Branch, shared Singapore’s international talent policy.   She also shared on the major factors affecting the decision of talents in relocating to a foreign city.  As a headhunting company which has assisted numerous companies in international talent recruitment,   Wisenet Asia understands the needs and what these talents look for, including salaries, benefits, security, spousal relocation, children’s education, quality of life in the destination city, etc.

We trust that with Chongqing’s determination, it will achieve its goal in being a talent-friendly city where talents from all over the world will be able to develop their careers and enjoy their stay.

To support the mental wellness community, WiseNet Asia donated booklets of carnival vouchers to the SACS (Singapore Anglican Community Services) organisation. The charity tickets are for an upcoming MINDSET fundraising carnival event, organised by Jardine Matheson. DEVELOPMENT SUMMIT OF CHONGQING PILOT FREE TRADE ZONE

WiseNet Asia’s Executive Director, Mr Wesley Hui attended the 2017 Chongqing FTZ Development Summit held on 7 July 2017.

The summit was one of the first official event to kick-start Chongqing district government’s plans in focusing on the development of regional economic development.  For a start, the summit’s theme was centered “Questions on the Free Trade Zone”, involving a guests speakers from Singapore, Chongqing and Shanghai – as well as a panel of expertise to facilitate the discussion.

WiseNet Asia was invited to speak and attend the 2016 China HR Expo in Chongqing.  The main topic was on the use of Cloud Technology, and how it will shape the future of HR and its policies.

The event, held at Chongqing Industry Park of Human Resources Service, attracted more than 500 HR professionals.


Our director, Mr Koh Yoke Hui addressed the crowd on the importance of career transiting employees as well as executive coaching – and how HR practitioners should prepare for the upcoming changes ahead.

WiseNet Asia was invited to attend and celebrate Vietnam Singapore Industrial Park’s (VSIP) 20th anniversary on 14th September 2016. We toured Binh Duong Industrial Park 1 & 2, and was given a detailed overview of how the area developed rapidly over the years and the inflow of MNC’s manufacturing plant, mainly from Europe, Japan and Taiwan.

The event, held at Binh Duong Convention and Exhibition Centre, included Vietnam’s Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Truong Hoa Binh. Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Teo Chee Hean, was also seen at the event as the Guest-of-Honor.

VSIP is a joint venture between Sembcorp and Becamex IDC Corporation. Over the last 20 years, it has established 7 industrial parks across Vietnam. The project to date has helped create more than 170, 000 jobs and attracted more than US $9billion worth of investments.

Led by our guest speaker – Mr Koh Chin Seng took participants through understanding and identifying HR issues that may arise on setting up new businesses or partnerships in China.

It was a fruitful morning as participants were able to clarify questions with the seasoned HR Practitioner, who gave a detailed breakdown of the do’s and don’t’s – as well as addressing some concerns in culture differences.

Many HR participants affirmed that the knowledge learned was something that they are able to apply to their business model. Following this successful event, we hope to be able to provide more value-added services to our clients and partners.
