Chief Operations Officer (Oil Exploration)
Our client:
An international upstream oil and gas exploration company.
Key Responsibilities
1. Operational Strategy and Leadership
- Define and implement operational strategies that support the company’s exploration, reservoir management, and production optimization goals.
- Work closely with the CEO and management team to set and achieve operational targets, particularly in asset development and production performance.
2. Reservoir Management and Optimization
- Lead the reservoir management team in overseeing reservoir characterization, modeling, and simulation to maximize recovery and extend field life.
3. Exploration and Production Oversight
- Oversee all exploration and field development programs, including seismic interpretation, drilling, completions, and reservoir development.
- Ensure all exploration and production activities are efficient, safe, and meet regulatory standards.
4. Financial Management and Budgeting
- Manage the operational budget, optimizing costs associated with reservoir management, exploration, drilling, and production.
- Offer strategic recommendations on capital allocation for reservoir enhancement projects, balancing resource availability and profitability goals.
5. Risk Management and Compliance
- Identify, assess, and mitigate operational risks, especially those related to reservoir management, well integrity, and environmental factors.
- Ensure strict compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations and industry standards.
6. Technology and Innovation
- Drive the adoption of advanced technologies in reservoir monitoring, data analysis, and production enhancement to improve operational efficiency.

Key Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Geology, or a related field; Postgrad qualification will be an advantage
- At least 15 years of experience in the oil industry, including a minimum of 5 years in a senior operations leadership role, with extensive experience in reservoir management.
- Proficiency in reservoir characterization, simulation, well performance, and production optimization techniques.
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
