A Day in the Life of Singaporean Interns at Xiantao Data Valley: Bridging Cultures and Forging Futures
In the heart of Xiantao Data Valley, two interns from Nanyang Technological University(NTU) in Singapore, Yanyu Mao, pursuing a dual degree in Computer Science and Economics, and Aden Ong Yew, specializing in Computer Engineering, embark on a journey that transcends geographical boundaries. Under the joint initiative of China’s Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and Singapore’s Ministry of Education, the Youth Internship Exchange Program has been fostering collaboration since 2020, facilitating internships for 500 college students between Singapore and China. As a pivotal hub for the China-Singapore (Chongqing) Strategic Interconnection Demonstration Project, Yubei District, with Xiantao Data Valley as its pioneering pilot, has taken the lead in promoting youth talent exchange and cooperation between China and Singapore. In June 2023, following the successful launch of the National University of Singapore (NUS) internship program, the first batch of Nanyang Technological University students arrived at Xiantao Data Valley for their cross-border on-site internships.
Xiantao Data Valley, a beacon of cooperation in the field of information and communication within the China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity, is committed to development of the Singapore (Chongqing) Youth Talent Station. Future plans include extending cross-border internship exchange programs to other prominent Singapore universities such as Singapore Polytechnic, Nanyang Technological University, and Singapore Institute of Technology. The initiative aims to propel high-quality young talents from Singapore and “Belt and Road” countries to intern, train, and engage in entrepreneurship in Chongqing. In doing so, Xiantao Data Valley aspires to become a vital platform for youth talent exchange, cooperation, and employment within the framework of China-Singapore collaboration.
